The Advally XenForo plugin connects to your Advally account using OAuth2 — a secure authorization standard that never requires you to paste in credentials or API keys manually. One click authorizes the connection and your Site Alias and Site ID are populated automatically.
How to Connect
- In your XenForo Admin Control Panel, navigate to Admin → Options → Advally Advertising.
- Scroll to the Plugin Configuration card at the bottom of the page.
- Click the Connect to Advally button.
- You will be redirected to advally.com. Log in to your Advally account if prompted, then click Authorize.
- You are returned to the plugin settings page. The Site Alias and Site ID fields are now automatically populated, and a green CONNECTED TO ADVALLY banner appears at the top of the page.

What Gets Populated
After a successful OAuth authorization, the plugin stores:
- Site Alias — your unique CDN slug (e.g.,
culturecoma.com), used to load ad configuration from Adligature. - Site ID — your numeric Advally ID (e.g., 977), used for reporting links within the admin panel.
- API token — a secure OAuth token stored server-side. It is refreshed automatically — you should not need to reconnect except after a token revocation.
Reconnect and Disconnect
Once connected, two buttons appear in the banner:
- Reconnect — Re-runs the OAuth flow. Use this if the connection fails, your Advally password changed, or you see a token-expired error. Reconnecting does not change your Site Alias or Site ID.
- Disconnect — Removes the OAuth token from the plugin. Your Site Alias and Site ID are preserved, so ad serving continues uninterrupted after disconnecting. Disconnect only removes the ability to use features that require API authorization.
Requirements
- Your XenForo install must be accessible over HTTPS. The OAuth2 callback requires a secure redirect URI.
- You must have an active Advally publisher account. If you do not have one, click Sign Up on the plugin page at advally.com/plugin/xenforo.
