We never send passwords by email, text, or chat. Advally shares logins and credentials with you — and collects the access we need to set things up — through 1Password, a secure shared vault. It works both ways and takes about five minutes to set up.

1. Accept your invitation

  • You’ll get an email invite from 1Password (sent by Advally). Open it and click to join.
  • Create your account password, and save your Secret Key / Emergency Kit somewhere safe.
  • Your team’s 1Password lives at https://vault.advally.com — bookmark it.

2. Install 1Password

  • Install the 1Password app (Mac or Windows), the browser extension, and the mobile app if you’d like it on your phone.
  • Sign in to each with your vault.advally.com account.

3. Find your shared vault

Once you’re in, you’ll see the vault(s) we’ve shared with you. That’s the shared space where logins live — both the ones we set up for you and the ones you share with us.

4. Give us access to a tool (instead of emailing it)

  1. Click + New Item.
  2. Choose the type — Login, or Credit Card, etc.
  3. Fill in the details.
  4. Make sure it’s saved in the shared vault (not your Private vault).
  5. Save. Nothing sensitive ever touches email.

5. Use credentials we’ve shared with you

Anything we set up for you appears in the shared vault. Open the item and click to copy a field, or let the browser extension fill it in automatically.

A few simple rules

  • Never send passwords by email, text, or chat — put them in the vault.
  • Keep shared items in the shared vault; your Private vault is only visible to you.
  • Turn on two-factor authentication wherever a tool offers it.
  • Locked out or stuck? Email [email protected].
